The Third International University Consortium in Earth Science (IUCES) summer school was held in Weil, Germany from 18 to 22 July. Professor Gan Yiqun with 5 people of China University of Geosciences (CUG) Wuhan, nearly 40 teachers and students from IUCES attended the opening ceremony. The theme of this summer school was "water, environment and resources". It was held in the form of lectures, field practice, and doctoral thesis exhibition.
. He extended his warm welcome to IUCES members, and made an introduction of German geography and KIT. Professor Bahr Hans-Peterhoped it can strengthen the cooperation and communication through summer school.
During the summer school, special lectures have been given by professor Franz Nestmann form KIT, professor Lai Zhongping from CUG, etc. The participants visited the Wehr underground power station, Danube Canyon and other field practice points, and conducted communications and studies of academic papers. All the participants agreed that it is such an extraordinary event that promoted continued cooperation of cross-disciplinary and cross-border among IUCES members.
It is known that IUCES was initiated by CUG, andestablished by Higher Education in the world of Earth Sciences and International Education Science built Technology Research Institute. This summer school was jointly organized by CUG and KIT, and it’s the first time to held overseas.
